The Effect of Group Art Therapy Program on Social Support and School Life Adjustment of Adolescents with School Maladjustment

Abstract

|
This study is to investigate an effect of a group art therapy on improving social support and school life adjustment of adolescents in school life maladjustment. To carry out this study, the data of 10 students of experiment group and 11 students of controlled group are analyzed, and the collected data are tested for their homogeneity by using the SPSS 21.0 program. And the Repeated Measures ANOVA were applied depending on the scores of pretests, post tests, and the need for a further inspection. The conclusion is in the following. First, the group art therapy program is effective for adolescents in school life maladjustment to improve social support, and it is still effective even after the program. Second, the group art therapy program is effective for adolescents in improving their school life, and the effeciveness is continued even after the proram. Therefore, this study result indicates that the group art therapy program has an influence on improving social support and school life adjustment of adolescents with school life maladjustment. This conclusion suggests that adolescents in maladjustment and troubles in school life and daily life are needed to improve school life adjustment by enhancing social support between parents, teachers, and peer group relationship.
